Have you tried the new sushi restaurant at Karma Condos that just opened up recently? Called Hana Sushi and Café, the doors opened to welcome in the neighbourhood on March 28, 2018.
I had the opportunity to try out dinner, and the monorail, which provided lots of amusement!
Orders for all food and drinks are placed on tablets placed in each booth. Food is categorized into different price points, corresponding to different coloured plates, so that you can keep track of the orders. Serving sizes are small (2-3 pieces of sushi or rolls) per order, but that’s not a problem. It’s perfect for allowing anyone to try a bit of everything on the menu!
The decor is fun and whimsical with knowingly cheesey-looking postcard scenes of famous Canadian landmark sites, amidst clouds and blue sky, with Japanese pop music playing in the background for full effect.
The servers are very attentive and sweet, albeit somewhat short on English skills. When ordering the Japanese fries and asking for an explanation of what was decorating the top of the dish, there was some difficulty in explaining what I was eating. I take it that it was some sort of dried and shredded fish? All tasty, all the same!
This restaurant makes for a great spot for an afterwork “cinq-a-sept” or for a full meal. Everything was tasty and delicious too! It’s great to see such a unique spot opening up in our neighbourhood!
